Road Databank
Within the meaning of the Act No 135/1961 Coll. on roads (Road Act) it forms a part of the information system of road management and serves as a tool for the administration and utilisation of data in central technical evidence of roads and the pavement diagnostics within the road network of the SR.
Road databank (RDB)
Through own facilities, in close cooperation of road owners and administrators, it executes:
- collection and processing of technical data on roads
- pavement diagnostics
- development and building of GIS (geographical information system)
- information service of databank
RDB operates the application system for assessment and determination of routes for the transport of excessive and oversized cargo, where the proposal and the evaluation of the transport route forms a part of the application for the authorisation for a special utilisation of roads.
Geographical information system
This system forms a part of the road management information system which through IS MCS (Information model of road network) in the geographic database model builds, develops and operates a tool for the keeping of electronic central technical evidence of roads and other data administered by RDB. The administration and utilisation of RDB data through advanced information technologies allows the effective support of executive and decision-making processes in the framework of road management.
Central technical evidence of roads
They represent the collection itself and subsequent processing of data such as technical invariable parameters (width configuration of cross-section, equipment, crash barriers, traffic signalling, support and noise barriers, walls etc.), records of road objects and their technical parameters (bridges, underbridges, railway crossings, transits, crossovers, foot bridges etc.) and register of data on completed construction works on the roads. All data are bound to a uniform identification base – nodal localisation system.
Pavement diagnostics
It operates advanced technologies designed for the execution of pavement diagnostics. It consists of the equipment KUAB FWD for the determination of bearing capacity, Profilograph GE for the measurement of longitudinal and transverse unevenness of road pavement, Skiddometer BV 11 for the measurement of longitudinal skid resistance of road pavement and Videocar for fast visual checks of the condition of road pavement or the acquisition of so-called video passport. The measured data form a part of the RDB data base and are used especially in the pavement management system.
Information service of databank
It ensures the handling of requirements relating to the RDB data base for internal and external users. It makes available processed data and their outputs to the general public at the website of SSC. The information service of the databank (IS RDB) serves not only for the transport sector but also for needs of the other state administration sectors and for local self-government bodies and municipalities, for international organisations and projects, for schools, research activities etc. The main users of more detailed data and outputs are road owners and administrators who directly draw data from the RDB data base. IS RDB ensures the promotion and presentation of RDB not only in this country but also at the international level, by making presentations on the RDB issues during conferences, seminars and exhibitions.
