The Road Databank department (RDB) is responsible for the performance of central technical register of roads, determining and assessing routes for the excessive and oversized transport, and operating the central intelligence service dispatching office (unified information system of the winter intelligence service) pursuant to Act No. 135/1961 Coll. (Road Act) on roads, as amended.
The obligation to ensure central technical register of roads pursuant to the aforementioned legislation has been transferred by the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic as a direct performance to the Slovak Road Administration (within the scope of motorways, state, regional, local roads and municipal roads).

The current form of the RDB represents a rich range of processes supported by the modern technologies, both on the side of data collection processes and on the side of information technologies supporting their processing and use. The software environment representing a set of applications and tools that is used to implement these processes is called the Information System of Road Network Model (IS RNM); The road network model is a set of digital data of the central technical register of roads stored in a central database.
The data model of the reference network is created in accordance with STN EN ISO 14825:2012-01 – Intelligent transport systems, Geographic data sets (GDF), Comprehensive data specification (ISO 14825: 2011).
